To be fair, in the Woodlands, Eagles aren't all majestic and fancy, as we know them to be. They're right arses. Always making fun of the smaller birds and stealing anything they can get their talons on. They really were getting to be a proper nuisance, until the King put together a crack troop of Eagle Hunters.
The Eagle Hunters don't have to kill the Eagles, mind you. They just have to get the Eagles' Steel Tail Feathers from them. That tends to calm the Eagles right down, and makes them behave in a much more agreeable manner.
As a badge of honour, the Huntsmen then forge the tail feathers into these sweet looking daggers.
